Complete installation guide for integrating Companies in the UK MCP with Claude.

Installation Options​

Claude.ai - No Installation Required!​

The easiest way to use Companies in the UK MCP is through Claude.ai in your browser.

  1. Go to Claude.ai Settings

    • Visit claude.ai and sign in
    • Click your profile icon (bottom left)
    • Select "Settings"
    • Find the "Connectors" section

  2. Add the MCP Server

    • Click "Add custom connector"
    • Name: UK Companies
    • URL: https://mcp.companiesintheuk.co.uk
    • Click "Save"

  3. Start Using It

    • No restart needed!
    • Test with: "Tell me about Tesco PLC"

Verify Installation​

Once connected, test the integration by asking Claude:

"What UK company tools do you have available?"

Claude should list:

  • search_companies - Search by name, location, or industry
  • get_company_details - Get comprehensive company information
  • calculate_financial_ratios - Analyze financial health
  • get_company_by_name - Smart lookup with suffix handling
  • quick_financial_summary - Key metrics at a glance

Troubleshooting​

"Can't find MCP server"​

  • Check the URL is exactly: https://mcp.companiesintheuk.co.uk
  • For Desktop: Ensure you restarted the app
  • Try refreshing the browser (Claude.ai)

"No company data available"​

  • Make sure you saved the connector settings
  • Test with a known company: "Tell me about Tesco PLC"
